SWT is a fashion design start-up based in Nashville. I came on as an ecommerce strategist in 2020 after my frustrating checkout experience. I found that the quality of the clothing certainly did not match the quality of my checkout experience, and that if UX wasn't addressed quickly, the brand may struggle to scale—especially during COVID times.

Now, let me clarify here: as a UX designer, Squarespace is not my everyday go-to. But, for many small businesses, it's a practical choice with a number of time-saving features. Without funding, a full Shopify build would be too time intensive and my primary concern was to get a functioning store out the door as quickly as possible, without needing to hire out development. We were able to have a minimum viable product built in a couple weeks just in time for the first launch of 2021. While the launch and subsequent drop went off without a hitch, our most exciting day was our second drop of 2021 when we sold out of product within 7 minutes.

Overall, my experience with Squarespace on a small scale has been mostly positive. For brands just starting out, it's definitely worth investing in and, with the right products, should serve well as a starting platform.
